Ric Santon Biography
"In this latest series of drip paintings, I’m exploring the idea of landscape from a fixed point of view—as if I'm a viewer looking out from behind a window. The surface of the painting becomes active, like condensation dripping down a glass pane. It’s a space where a hand gesture—a smudge, a doodle, or a message—can momentarily communicate with the world beyond. These gestures feel personal and deliberate, even though they might only last for a moment. Beyond that surface is a blurry, unfocused world. Each painting is built up in layers, reflecting both the act of looking and the passage of time."
Ric Santon is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design Experimental Arts program. He co-founded Dianna Witte Gallery in 2002, while also maintaining a personal art practice that involves painting, photography and sculptural work. His work is held in numerous private and corporate collections.
