John Geoffrey Caruthers Little

John Little was a Canadian artist celebrated for capturing the urban heritage of Montreal through his oil paintings.

Born in Montreal on February 20, 1928, Little pursued his artistic studies at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal and the Art Students League of New York. During his time in New York, he collaborated with Ray Bailley on the Bruce Gentry comic strip. In 1951, Little joined his family's architectural firm, Luke & Little, working as a draftsman. After marrying in 1953, he transitioned to painting as his primary profession, showcasing his work at the Watson Art Gallery. Additionally, he illustrated covers for Maclean's Magazine.

In 1961, Little became an associate member of the Royal Canadian Academy, achieving full membership in 1973. His artworks are held in numerous public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery at Concordia University, and the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art.
