Eleanor Golfman Biography

Eleanor Golfman (b. 1933) is a Canadian visual artist and printmaker based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She pursued her formal post-secondary art education at the University of Manitoba School of Art, where she studied drawing, painting, and printmaking, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1955.

Golfman's studio practice focuses on fine printmaking mediums, with a particular concentration on serigraphy (silkscreen printing), etching, and mixed-media paper works. Her visual output frequently explores abstract form, color relationships, and geometric compositions, as well as stylized organic structures inspired by natural environments.

Throughout her career, Golfman has contributed to the Western Canadian visual arts community through active involvement with printmaking collectives and regional artist organizations. Her print works have been featured in public museum and university gallery exhibitions in Western Canada, including exhibitions organized by the University of Manitoba School of Art Gallery. Her work is represented in public, corporate, and institutional collections, including the collection of the Province of Manitoba and the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
