Shi Le

Shi Le is a Toronto-based artist known for his landscapes that sparkle with colour and depth. Shi Le received his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Sichuan Fine Arts in China and a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo. Over the past two decades, Shi Le has taught painting at various universities including Lakehead University, University of Waterloo and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. He has been exhibiting his paintings since 1980. “My landscape painting is my response to nature, especially to the environment where I live. I feel the environment through my heart and translate this by a filtering and colouring process. Walking along the river through the bush and sitting on the rocks watching the trickling ripples of water makes me feel at peace in the tranquility of nature.”
