This is an ominous source image of Tom standing behind a barbed wire fence with his bloodied days catchproudly presented as the sun sets. The sky, for me was a reminder of the war that was raging in Europe. This could also be a metaphor for Tom’s uncertain demise at Canoe Lake a short time later.
