The “Afternoon Glow” painting of a Snowy Owl, created in 1977 and signed by Robert Bateman, is a life-sized masterpiece painted in acrylic on Masonite measuring 36 x 48 inches. It was exhibited at The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. as part of the Portraits of Nature: Paintings by Robert Bateman exhibit in 1987, which was considered one of the best exhibitions of his work by The Hon. D.E.H. Bigham of The Tryon Gallery. Records of the exhibition and sales come with the painting, and its provenance can be traced back to The Tryon Gallery, Ltd. in London.
“Afternoon Glow” is also featured in the book “The Art Of Robert Bateman”, the first of many best-selling books by the internationally-acclaimed wildlife artist from Ontario. The book showcases a comprehensive collection of Bateman’s artworks, including this stunning portrayal of a Snowy Owl. The painting’s significance and popularity are further highlighted by its inclusion in the book, making it a coveted piece for art collectors and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
