David Rousseaux Morrice (1903–1978) was a Canadian painter born in Toronto, Ontario. He was the nephew of the notable Canadian landscape painter James Wilson Morrice. Morrice completed his early education at Upper Canada College and Appleby School before attending McGill University, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1924. Following a brief career in business, he chose to pursue fine art full time in the early 1930s.

He received his early art instruction in Montreal under artists Lilias Torrance Newton and Adam Sherriff Scott. Morrice then traveled to Europe to broaden his studies, enrolling at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, England, from 1934 to 1936. He continued his artistic education in Paris, France, attending life drawing classes at the Académie Colarossi and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière from 1936 to 1937 before returning to Canada to establish a studio in Montreal.

At the outbreak of World War II, Morrice enlisted in the Canadian Army. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Artillery and later as a Major with the First Canadian Army and the Canadian Intelligence Corps on the Western Front. For his military service, he was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1945. After retiring from active duty at the end of 1945, Morrice returned to Montreal, where he maintained his studio practice focusing on landscapes, portraiture, and still life subjects in oil and watercolour.
