Terry Kalluk

Terry Kalluk is an Inuit graphic artist and illustrator born in Resolute Bay (Qausuittuq), Nunavut. Raised in the High Arctic, he developed an interest in visual art through observing traditional Inuit cultural practices, community life, and northern wildlife. He spent much of his adult life living and working in Arctic Bay (Ikpiarjuk) on northern Baffin Island, where he maintained his studio practice.

Kalluk's artistic output centers on drawing, printmaking, and digital illustration. Working primarily with colored pencils, fine-line ink, and graphic media, his compositions capture the social and environmental realities of contemporary life in Nunavut. His imagery frequently depicts scenes of Arctic fauna, hunting traditions, community gatherings, and northern landscapes, as well as stylized visual narratives addressing Arctic sovereignty and local Inuit histories.

In addition to his studio drawings and prints, Kalluk has contributed visual art to northern educational initiatives, children's literature, and cultural publications aimed at preserving Inuktitut language and traditional knowledge. His work has been featured in public museum exhibitions and is represented in permanent public collections, including the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
