Shuvinai Ashoona RCA (born 1961) is a celebrated Inuk artist known for her intricate drawings that blend traditional Inuit life and imagery with contemporary influences and personal mythology. Born into an artistic family that includes her grandmother Pitseolak Ashoona, she began her career drawing detailed landscapes before shifting to more complex works featuring figures, symbols, and vibrant colors. Ashoona's work explores themes of identity, memory, and the environment, and is exhibited internationally. She has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Gershon Iskowitz Prize in 2018.
