Ningiukulu Teevee and Shuvinai Ashoona

The gallery has assembled works on paper by these contemporary Inuit artists to explore the culture and oral histories of Kinngait, formerly known as Cape Dorset.Ningiukulu Teevee (b.1963) and Shuvinai Ashoona (b.1961) are both contemporary Inuit artists living and working in Kinngait. The works presented in this exhibition are drawings in pen, ink and coloured pencils - mediums that have risen in popularity in the area since the mid-20th century. The artists are represented in prominent private, corporate and public collections around Canada.
