Canadian Landscape

New works by Terry Watkinson. Exhibition 212 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg.

Canadian Landscape, a collection of Terry Watkinson’s recent paintings picture a variety of Canadian vistas and opens Friday, October 29th at Mayberry Fine Art in Winnipeg, at 212 McDermot Avenue. His idyllic descriptions of our dramatic and dynamic environment detail flooding rivers, wide prairies and sprucely, noble trees; restless clouds drift above pensive lakes and rocks sit, suspended in oil paint. These broad, picturesque views are founded on Watkinson’s long and growing love and understanding of a true North, strong and free. A. Y. Jackson once said, in 1914, while describing a northern sketching trip, “But the Canadian who does not love keen bracing air, sunlight making shadows that vie with the sky, the wooded hills and frozen lakes– well he must be a poor patriot.”
