(1964)

Rand Heidinger was raised and works in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His artwork evolved out of the skills he learned from his past experience designing furniture and custom displays. Primarily made from industrial tools and materials, his works are carefully composed layers of automotive paint and resin on thin acrylic thermoplastic. This process lends depth, texture and luminescence to the visual plane that responds differently under varied lighting.

Heidinger describes his compositions as having an organic quality contrasting the industrialist method he uses in his process, a metaphor for the human struggle to exist within an imposed order in an industrialized world:

"We try to lead theses orderly lives yet underneath life is messy. My art reflects the disordered state behind the orderly grid we present to the world."

Heidinger's works are in numerous corporate and private collections in the US and Canada. HRH Prince Phillip personally chose his work for the collection of the ‘Arts for Nature Trust’ in Buckingham Palace.
